This was the first class I have taken from Andy and Michelle, and I hope it is not my last. The class was well structured and I learned a lot. I look forward to designing (and redesigning) some spreadsheets to make my job easier. I cannot wait to attend an advanced class if they offer one. Kent E. Boots, ACTAR #1170

Although this is one of the more difficult classes I have taken in my reconstruction career, it is also one of the best and most helpful classes. Andy takes a subject that may be daunting to some and explains and teaches the material is a way that flows well and is easy to understand. I can immediately put to use in my reconstruction work many of the tools and skills that I have learned in this class. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Kerry Alvino

The course is so good, I took it twice (once in-person and the second time online). Andy teaches the online course as if you were sitting in a classroom with him. He walks you through creating your own, customized, crash reconstruction calculator with step-by-step instructions. If you encounter an issue or have a question, he is extremely timely with his responses. Most of all, Andy stays available after the course to assist you with crash reconstruction concerns. I have used the Excel program he teaches you to make on almost all of my crash investigations.

Challenging and engaging. Not a walk in the park. You need to think and apply what you learn. Excellent support and guidance.

Andy and Michelle do a great job of presenting Excel and its application to accident reconstruction. They also teach a lot of accident reconstruction in the class making the class on the order of a class you would take through the Society of Automotive Engineers. They go well beyond the typical accident reconstruction classes taught by Northwestern or IPTM. This is not a class that you can take lightly. They really make you think. Thanks Andy, Michelle, Edison, and Tesla.

This course is extremely useful for accident reconstructionists! I had no idea that Excel offered so many tools that can be utilized to design Excel sheets for all forms of reconstructions. I would definitely recommend this course to an accident reconstructionist or anyone who is just looking to become more diverse with Excel. The instructor, Andy Rich, is also great! He is extremely helpful and very patient with students.

This class was great. The course chapters were broken into short videos which were perfect in length. They covered what needed to be covered and were broken up at the right time. For an online Excel class this far exceeded expectations. I recommend this course to any reconstructionist that is serious about their skill and wants to improve reconstructions.

FAQ

  • What are the prerequisites for this class?

The prerequisite for this class is any reconstruction class. Some areas refer to that as technical. If you have training in momentum, minimum speed, critical speed yaw and airborne you have the required knowledge to successfully complete this course. Successful completion of specialty classes such as pedestrian, commercial motor vehicle, EDR is NOT required.

  • Do I need any previous experience with Excel?

No. This course starts from the very basics of Excel. We assume that you have never opened Excel on a computer.

  • What versions of Excel are supported?

We currently support Excel 2010 and later. However, users of 2010 should understand that there will be some differences in their interface and some Excel functions. Our manual will point out the difference in the Excel functions. However, our videos that show how to create charts will be different from the 2010 interface. Our experience with live classes and testers for the online class is that most students can figure out how to create the charts in 2010.

  • How can I get help if I am stuck?

There are a few options here. The instructors constantly monitor the discussion forums and answer questions ASAP. Of course, we have a consulting business and we do sleep sometimes! There will be times when we are taking care of a consulting commitment and a reply will be delayed. There are also time zone issues to consider. Dinner time on the west coast is bed time for us! For those who do not want to publicly post a question in a discussion forum, direct email is available. We also offer telephone support as well as screen sharing support such as TeamViewer or Zoom. There is also Google. Most issues that students run into may be solved by a Google search.

  • I am concerned that 30 days will not be enough time. What happens if I do not complete the course on time?

It takes the average student 28 hours to complete the course. That includes watching the videos, taking quizzes, doing assignments and taking the final exam and completing the final project. That comes out to less than 1 hour per day. The 30-day limit should not be an issue for most students. However, we understand that life happens. Extensions are available for those who have a legitimate reason for not completing the course in 30 days. Students must have shown a meaningful attempt at participating in the course to receive an extension.

  • Is this class eligible for ACTAR CEUs?

The class has been preapproved for 24 ACTAR CEUs.

  • How do I obtain ACTAR credits for this class?

Once you complete the course send an email to [email protected]. Make sure that you include your ACTAR number. That's it! We will take care of the rest including payment of all fees to ACTAR.

  • I see that there are EDR topics in the class. I have never taken an EDR class. Will I be able to understand those sections of the class?

Yes! All topics in accident reconstruction are explained (except for the very basic stuff such as minimum speed, airborne, momentum and critical speed yaw. All other topics are explained, such as EDR analysis, Monte Carlo simulation and spin analysis.

  • I do not know anything about Monte Carlo simulation. Will I be able to understand those sections of the class?

Yes! There are many lectures that guide you through understanding what Monte Carlo is and how it works. Monte Carlo simulation has become one of the most popular sections of our live class.
